Finding a freight service outside normal business hours was difficult back in the 70’s and 80’s, until founder, Paul Jones started Heathrow Weekend Freight Services in 1981. He soon found that going the extra mile by offering a weekend service was just what customers were looking for. They were so happy with his personal, reliable and efficient service that they demanded he open during the week too. So Heathrow Weekend Freight Services, in spite of the name, started operating 7 days a week.
Paul’s mission was to earn the lifetime loyalty of his customers by solving logistical problems at the best price and always delivering on time. As word spread of the excellent freight forwarding service HWFS was providing the business grew and many of those early customers remain with the company today. HWFS continues to provide freight services in most industry sectors including Aviation, Automotive, Pharmaceuticals, Energy and Industrial along with highly bespoke services for it’s private clients. In 2009 HWFS became HWFS 24:7 express to reflect being available for customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to get the job done, no matter how big or small.
Having joined HWFS in 1996, Paul’s son, Bradley Jones, took over the helm in 2008 and continues to maintain the company’s values of efficiency, reliability and excellence in customer service while driving the business to the next level. In 2016, founder Paul Jones stepped down from his day to day activities in HWFS and is now more likely to be found on a golf course in the Algarve. He remains a shareholder, a board director and an inspiration to the team in Stanwell and often pops in the office when back in the UK to share some of his expert knowledge.
